Vermont's Energy Future
Advisory Committee and Resource Panel

As a public process to be conducted with the approval of the Joint Energy Committee, it is crucial that we work collaboratively to provide meaningful results within an environment of credibility.  To achieve accomplish this, an advisory committee should be formed to work on the following:

• Development of factual informational materials that will be foundational for use in the subsequent steps in the process;
• To build credibility in the process and results through participation of members from the utility industry, regulatory arena and interest groups;
• To foster and enhance relationships between the department and the relevant stakeholders.

Based on these requirements, the following names were suggested, and they have agreed to serve as advisory committee members:

Utility – investor owned	Bob Griffin, GMP	Mr. Griffin is a power supply planner for Vermont’s second largest electric utility.
At large member – regulatory expertise	Rich Sedano – RAP	Mr. Sedano is the Director of the Regulatory Assistance Project, and previously held the position of DPS Commissioner.
Utility – municipal	Patty Richards – VPPSA	Ms. Richards is a planner with the Vermont Public Power Authority.
Interest group	James Moore – VPIRG	Mr. Moore is a staff  member with Vermont Public Interest Research Group, and deals with energy and environmental issues.
Regional Planning	Jim Matteau	Mr. Matteau is the Director of Regional Planning in Windham County.
DPS	Dave Lamont	Mr. Lamont is a planner at DPS, and has worked on many projects in his tenure.
IBM – Large Consumer	Steve Blair	Mr. Blair is Site Energy Manager responsible for Electricity, Fuel, and Energy Conservation.

Dr. Jonathan Raab will facilitate the advisory committee.  Robert Ide and Steve Wark will be the Department’s contacts for this stage of the process.

Resource Panel

A resource panel has been assembled to provide content expertise in the areas identified by the consulting team.  This team will help craft documents and refine questions for the public.

Solar	Andy Perchlik	Mr. Perchlik is the head of REV, and interacts with solar vendors within the state.
Wind	John Zimmerman	Mr. Zimmerman works for the VT Environmental Research Association.  He is a foremost authority on wind resource and siting potential in the State.
Nuclear	Dave McElwee	Mr. McElwee is a nuclear engineer with Entergy.
Hydro	Pending
Gas	Eileen Simolardes	Ms. Simolardes works for Vermont Gas.
Coal	Pending
Transmission	Kerrick Johnson	Mr. Johnson is the Vice President of Public Affairs with VELCO, Vermont’s transmission company for the utilities.
Biomass	John Irving	Mr. Irving is an employee of the Burlington Electric Department at the McNeil Generating Plant.
